I downloaded mods to change Teldryn's model and the way mercenary payment works, hoping to "nudge" whatever was askew back into place. It didn't work. I used console commands to change his relationship to my character and forcibly add him to the follower faction (I did intend to put down 500 gold in his inventory afterwards). It didn't work either.
