How to lock subaru while running

Went to the store today after taking my pouch to the doggo park. I left the engine running with AC on my 23 wilderness, exited and tried to manually lock the doors. Nope car won't let me, tried the door lock button, nope steady beep sounded. My 20 Ram 1500 did allow me to manually lock the truck with its engine on.
