Best neighborhood to stay in tokyo

As we will be staying in Tokyo at the beginning and end of the trip (due to flying out of Narita and using a JR pass for internal travel), we are wondering if there is another area or train line we should stay near. For the first 5 nights, we have booked a hotel just a short walk from Shinjuku station.

The only thing I would say is if you like to stay out late and go partying then stay near where you think you’ll be doing those things. Typically Shinjuku and Shibuya. Within a comfortable walking distance for you. For most that would be like a 20-30 minute walk.
